Boundary Condition invites proposals from artists working across sound, performance, transmedia, sculpture, installation, artist talks and visual media to participate in the next editions of our site-responsive series in 2025. As an ongoing exploration of nostalgia, hypersentimentalism, and sonic immersion, we are looking for works that engage with the sonic ecosystems of dark-jazz, hauntology, musique concrète, and electroacoustics.

We encourage submissions from artists whose practices resonate with Boundary Condition’s conceptual undertones — investigating the persistence and fragmentation of memories, the phenomenology of the various archetypes of atrophy through psychoacoustic, audible interdependence, sombre studies on the erosion of memory and time, and the psychoacoustic dimensions of sound in architectural vessels.

Boundary Condition values diverse perspectives and invites applications from underrepresented and marginalized voices in experimental sound and performance. We welcome submissions across all mediums, including multimedia performances, installations, or project presentations such as artist talks, panel discussions, and other experimental formats that align with Boundary Condition’s themes. We're interested in exploring different formats of presentation and attempting to disrupt passive listening environments, so would love to hear any ideas artists have about portraying their work in experimental and multimedia contexts.

Selected artists will receive:

  • Reimbursement for participation.

  • Technical rider support and on-site assistance.

  • Promotion of their work through Boundary Condition’s networks.

  • Photography and sonic documentation of their performance.

How to Apply

Proposals should include:

  • A description of the project (max. 600 words), including its conceptual and thematic connections to Boundary Condition.

  • Technical requirements and duration of the performance.

  • A brief artist bio (max. 200 words).

  • Links to relevant portfolio materials (e.g., video/audio samples, website, social media).

Deadline for submissions: 31st May 2025.

To apply or inquire further, please email alaayussry@antisense.co.uk with the subject line: "Boundary Condition 2025 Proposal – [Your Artist Name]."

Boundary Condition is committed to unearthing a reflective and inclusive space for artists and audiences to experience durational sonic immersion ceremonies. Join us in shaping the next chapter of this ongoing discourse into sound, memory, and space.
